Miracles Do Happen!!
It was
evening around 6PM and raining heavily. Aarti was travelling back from work. She
walked hurriedly to reach the bus stop, as only few buses would ply between her
office and the nearest railway station. Much tense and worried with happenings
in office Aarti walked fast to get a bus at the earliest.
Her
mother’s illness back at her hometown, her struggle to adjust in a city and
work made her mind more stressful. Half drenched and braving the windy
atmosphere Aarti got down on the main road beyond which the buses weren’t
moving. All of a sudden through much darkness, water gushing on roads, through
a far away fading light she realized her way was lost.
With
fear gripping her and clock ticking by Aarti gathered courage taking slow pace
towards the road ahead. All of a sudden her footsteps came to a halt when she
heard a voice from the back,”I seemed to have lost my way could you help”.
Aarti trembled and turned around to see a young lady of similar age holding an
umbrella up right. In the dim street lights she could see the stranger’s face
was bright with a charming smile. Stunned and happy at the moment Aarti
hesitantly replied,”I think we are on the same track”.
As both
walked along much to Aarti’s surprise the lady said it was her last working day
in office and her experience in this big city too. The stranger’s story sounded
similar to hers, thought Aarti. Half an hour later the local railway station
was at sight and Aarti heaved a sigh of relief.
It was
getting darker minute by minute; the conversation went on while Aarti’s eye was
persistent on the many crowded trains passing through the platform. Aarti had
many questions racing in mind…hmm...Keep cool her heart responded.
Finally
a less crowded local train appeared to be coming, Aarti rouse to say goodbye to
the lady...much to her astonishment the lady had vanished all of a sudden and
was no were to be seen. Aarti urged to find her as far as her eyes could see.
Aarti
was dumbstruck all along her journey to her apartment with many thoughts
swirling around her head. Her eager explanation made her friends keep
guessing...Oh...Was it true after all? But somewhere deep in her heart Aarti smiled
and knew “Miracles do happen in life”.
